The ex-New York Central N7A Classes

There were 196 of these ex-NYC bay window cabooses. Numbers 21506-21798 not consecutive.

Built by the St. Louis Car Company during 1952. These were virtual carbon copies of the origimil N-7 design. NYC numbers were 20298-20497 (197 cars).

Renumbered before the merger by NYC in the 21506-21798 grouping in a strange and complicated or random? numbering system. If anyone can explain it please let me know.

The N-7/N-7A caboose had an average weight of 52,000 lbs.
Each was 41'4" long between end striking plates
12'2" high from rail to running board
and 10'8" between bay windows
